Vice President Safety and Recruiting, Big M Transportation
Benton Elliott – Vice President of Safety and Recruiting at Big M Transportation, Inc. for the past 8 years and has been in the Safety Profession for 23 years in both the Transportation and Heavy Civil/Commercial Construction Industries. During this time his safety team at Big M has received 10 National Safety Awards including multiple ATA Fleet Safety and Industrial Safety Awards and TCA Fleet Safety Awards along with multiple Mississippi Trucking Association Safety Awards. Benton currently serves on the ATA SMC Awards and Recognition Committee.
At Big M, Benton has led efforts in incorporating leading technologies into their fleet with cameras, simulators, collision mitigation systems, and drug testing techniques. These technologies along with behavioral coaching have been instrumental in the safety successes at Big M.
Benton earned his B.S. degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology from Mississippi State University and later obtained designations of Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), and Certified Safety Supervisor (CSS).
He and his wife Elizabeth live in Ripley, MS and is an elder at Ripley Presbyterian Church. He enjoys the outdoors, running, and leading Big M’s fundraising efforts for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
