Mike Long is the FRA Director of Outreach Programs and Engagement.  As such, he is responsible for safe rail operations, as well as outreach to the rail industry, associations and labor. He has responsibility for all highway-rail grade crossing and trespasser incidents in the USA.  Mike began his railroad career in 1995 with the Santa Fe Railroad.  Since 2003, Mike has served FRA in a variety of positions, working his way up from and operating practices inspector to his current senior leadership role.   Mike is a former US Marine infantry and reconnaissance officer, serving in numerous locations throughout the world.
